Mirror's Edge is Sexy Looking...But Is It Going to Have the Cloverfield Effect?
Yeah, crap pic I had to whip up...but its the truth.
Cloverfield was a great movie, may I point out, and Mirrors Edge is shaping up to be a great game (It is starting to get doubts of a overhyped game though, ala, Assassins Creed) but its crown jewel? The graphics.
D.I.C.E have something to be proud of with Mirrors Edge, especially its graphics as they are without a doubt, near enough realistic...but is it too realistic?
Let me take you back to February back when Cloverfield came out in the UK. When JJ Abrams, creator of Lost and Alias as well as director of MI:3 and the new Star Trek, came up with the idea of the movie, it was a mix of Blair Witch and Godzilla.
And while the movie was nothing but brillant, there were reports coming out of the US that when the movie was released in January that people were suffering motion sickness out of it.
What that means is that it's too real, despite the fact its a movie and isn't real. Of course I never suffered it while I seen Cloverfield but as I'm writing this, I'm getting bad feelings, it's acting really weird (Well, that or I'm hungry)
So, is Mirror's Edge going to be the same? Most likely, the graphics are great but a little too real and authentic so it could cause a fair bit of motion sickness. Who knows but the thing is this, if you know your going to get motion sickness, dont get the game (OK, now I'm feeling more queezy, no joke)
So, if you do get Mirror's Edge this Autumn and have motion sickness, enjoy the game...but please, have a sickbag or a toilet next to you while you play the game, it just wouldn't be right if you threw up on the most likely sexy coverart or as you are about to make a big jump and miss the grab by so many miles...
OK, I aint feeling too good...
*throws up*
